German for a Day

Guten Tag from Frankfurt!

We woke up this morning to go on a city tour of Frankfurt that Evelyn had planned for us. She took us to the Frankfurt stock market, which is a big deal because Frankfurt is a banking city. It was interesting to compare the difference between what we see on T.V about ours and then what we were seeing about theirs.

After this, we saw some Cathedrals and important buildings, did some shopping, and headed back to Evelyns flat to get ready for the public viewing of the World Cup game Germany v. Ghana. They had a huge screen out on the public lawn at the school for the students to watch. The only thing I can equate this to would be our form of "tailgating". Everyone sits out on the lawn on blankets or at tables and watches the game. Germans are obviously very loud and proud of their team, and it was great fun watching Germany win and all the excitement that came along with that.

Evelyn bought us face paint with the German flag colors, so I painted my face and was German for a day.

After about an hour of train, metro, and tram rides, we made it back to Evelyn's flat, ate some snacks, and immediately fell asleep.

Today, we are headed to Evelyn's village for a BBQ with her parents, and fun with them until Sunday evening when we return to Frankfurt for our flight on Monday. They have internet so I should be able to blog!

The pictures above are of us at the viewing of the game!
